What is hot foil printing?
Quite simply, it is coloured foil transferred onto an item by using heat
and pressure. Metal Plates or Type (Metal letters) are used to transfer
the information onto a product. Type can be used for printing simple
text, in horizontal lines, whilst a 'Plate' (also known as a 'Block') is
used for printing unusual text, logos and designs.
What products can I print onto?
Utilising the hot foil printing process, you can print onto a wide range
of flat surfaces; items such as:-
* Pens & Pencils (Flat sided only)
* Key Fobs, Bookmarkers and Coasters
* Business Cards (Paper and Plastic)
* Stationery
* Wedding & Greeting Cards / Ribbons
* Tax Disc Holders
* Diaries
With hot foil printing, the product needs to 'give' and must also be
flat. Therefore, hot foil printing is not generally suitable for
printing onto round pens, golf balls, lighters etc. There are, however,
some exception to this rule but it often involves the use of very
expensive 'curved' silicon printing plates. For most beginners, this is
often prohibitive.
